Q & A on MOT
Who carries out the MOT test?
The MOT test can only be carried by certified technicians at authorized workshops.
Why is an MOT test necessary?
Serious technical deficiencies are being found in many cars every year - and often these are attributable to careless handling of maintenance recommendations. One of the aims of the MOT is therefore to detect these shortcomings even in "black sheep" in a timely manner, thus increasing the safety of the traffic on the roads. The MOT and the integrated emission test is also designed for environmental protection. Excessive pollutant emissions can be detected and the causes can be stopped. This can also be an advantage for you: Increased pollutant values often point to an excessively high damage-related fuel consumption, which can cost you a lot of money.
When should the main examination be carried out?Once your car is over three years old, the first MOT must be carried out.Otherwise, please have a look at your previous MOT certificate - the expiry date is clearly written on it.
What happens if my car fails the MOT test?
In case your vehicle does not pass the MOT, you are not allowed to drive it until all faults mentioned in the MOT failure certificate are repaired and a re-test has been carried out afterwards. Once the car has passed the re-test, it can be driven again.
